Interesting news today, Sonus, best known in our world as one of the leading providers of certified gateways/session border controllers for Skype for Business, has announced completion a merger with Genband. Genband is more in the carrier space so don’t conflict too much with Sonus, especially not in the enterprise space.
From what I’ve heard its Business as usual in the Sonus space. The company will continue to trade on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker SONS until its new corporate name (Ribbon Communications Inc.) and its new ticker symbol (RBBN) become effective, which is anticipated to be by the end of 2017. For Sonus customers, there will be no
changes to existing account teams or current contacts.
So don’t expect much change in the Sonus SBCs, projects can push on as usual. Much like the net to Sonus transition for those that were around for that one. I wonder if we’ll get some new Ribbon faceplates for the SBC’s?
