Introducing the 10 Microsoft Ignite Community Reporters

Published 03/09/2017 - 3 Comments

This year at Microsoft Ignite is having 10 MVPs serving as Community Reporters. I’m pleased to say I’m one of the ten, I’ll be focusing on the news and activity around Office 365 Collaboration, Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams.

The idea is you’ll have ten people from the community giving you updates and commentary on the event, for those there, but also for those following along online. I’ve already got some great interviews lined up with key speakers and people in the product team and will be doing a daily update on the sessions and news.

We’ll also be doing a live MSUC.Chat from the event on Skype for Business, more details to follow nearer the event (sign up to the mailing list now to get an email update). Also if you want to come and see me speak and ask questions I’m doing a Cloud PBX session on Thursday.

I’m joined by some amazing community leaders, I suggest you check them all out during Ignite to catch all the news and events. There is an interview with each of them on the tech community:

Microsoft Merging Teams & Skype for Business Online?

A rumor is circulating that Microsoft will combine Skype for Business Online and Teams, but Microsoft is not confirming anything yet (ZDNet, Redmond Magazine, etc.). During the Inspire partner conference session on Office 365 Cloud Voice in July, I asked Tiffany Wissner, Senior Director Marketing this question (she covered the Cloud Voice roadmap and did not mention it at all). She said Microsoft Teams will serve as their collaboration hub (same concept as Slack), and will coexist with Skype for Business. They will let the user decide which tool is best based on their need or preference.

I will interested to find out if this is the ‘big announcement’ at Ignite. What are your insights?
