About Lync Online Meeting Plug-in for Outlook

15/06/2011 5 Comments

Had a customer ask about the Lync Outlook Plugins today.

There are actually two plugins for Outlook

Conversation History Add-in for Microsoft Lync

Usually located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Lync\ocoffice.dll

Online Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Lync 2010

Usually located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Lync\ucaddin.dll

They are deployed as part of the Lync client install. There is no separate installer available.

Does this remove the OCS/Live Meeting Outlook plugin?

Not by default, but you can get the Lync installer to remove the previous Live Meeting plugin by using the following switch

Removes the Conferencing Add-in for Microsoft Office Outlook, which is the previous version of the add-in (used for scheduling Microsoft Office Live Meeting server- and service-based meetings).

Can I have pictures of my Lync contacts in Outlook?

Sure, tommy clarke has a good expenlation of how to enable this here

What if I don’t have Outlook/don’t want the plugins?

You can still do ad-hoc meetings via the Lync client, and there is also a Lync Web Scheduler available here. See this blog post from Justin Morris for details on the Web Scheduler

Not sure if you can get it as a separate install. I’d just re install Lync

I have installed Office Plus 2012 RUS, but not foun? Lync link in main menu, outlook add-ons and listed dll’s on HDD. But Lync is running, when I press the Lync-link from outcome invitations.

Separate Lync installation not found on site and in install options of office.

Do you have ideas, what to do also?

I can’t find any information on the “Conversation History Add-in for Microsoft Lync 2010”. I need to know how it’s installed.

Is it installed by default when installing Lync 2010 or Outlook?

Why isn’t there a “Convo Hist Add-in” for 2013? Has it been retired or bundled up with a Lync 2013 install?

Why can’t I find anything about this one add-in online?
